Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the center displays a history of the areas including the development of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. The historical center also includes a nature trail, auditorium, picnic area and areas for fishing. Whitten Park Campground attracts thousands of outdoor enthusiasts for picnicking, fishing and swimming on the Tenn-Tom Waterway.
